Inter-LabEx Science Day: Artificial Intelligence, transformations and challenges

As part of the IDEXLYON project, the Université de Lyon’s 12 Laboratories of Excellence held a science day on February 6, 2020 exploring the theme of “Artificial Intelligence: transformations and challenges”.

The science day took place on Thursday, February 6, 2020, in the Université de Lyon’s Grand Amphitheater. This day wan an opportunity to reflect on the future of artificial intelligence, including the challenges, opportunities and possibilities it entails, all of which are being studied by the Université de Lyon’s twelve LabEx (laboratories of excellence). The day was organized around three major conferences (see program below).

The day ended with a roundtable discussion entitled “What are the ethical challenges for research in the era of Big Data and AI?”, which was open to the general public. This was an opportunity for over 250 participants to exchange opinions on software liability and data confidentiality issues, and to explore the wider issue of the growing presence of AI in our society and the ethical principles that ought to be used to guide this development.
