Three scientists from the Université de Lyon have been awarded ERC “Consolidator” grants

The three grant recipients from the Université de Lyon laboratories: from left to right Chloé Michaut, Yvon Jaillais and Angela Madeo.
The European Research Council (ERC) has recently published its list of “Consolidator” grant beneficiaries. These grants will fund a total of 327 exploratory research projects over a maximum period of five years, with a total budget of €655 million. The project leaders are researchers who completed their thesis between seven and twelve years ago.
Three UdL projects are among the 327 projects selected:
- Yvon Jaillais, CNRS research director at the Reproduction and Development of Plants laboratory (RDP, ENS de Lyon/Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1/CNRS/INRAE).
Project title: “Lipid gradients and the dynamics of the plant endomembrane system: from the nano- to the developmental scales”
- Angela Madeo, university professor, member of the Geomechanics, Materials and Structures Laboratory (GEOMAS – Laboratoire Géomécanique, Matériaux, Structures, INSA Lyon), and beneficiary of the ELAN-ERC scheme in 2019.
Project title: Learning to play LEGOs with metamaterials!
- Chloe Michaut, university professor, member of the Geomechanics, Materials and Structures Laboratory (GEOMAS – Laboratoire Géomécanique, Matériaux, Structures, INSA Lyon), and winner of the AAP IMPULSION call for projects back in 2018.
Project title: Formation, magmatic evolution and present-day structure of the CRUsts of Stagnant-LID planets
Each winner will receive an average of €2 million over a five-year period to fund their research projects.
