This new industrial teaching and research chair is part of the new Veterinary Public Health Hub that will be created in January 2020. Its Chair holder, Thibaud Porphyre, based at VetAgro Sup, aims to create an interdisciplinary dynamic based on a broader vision of public health.

The aim is to promote veterinary public health by creating interdisciplinary training programs for a wide range of international audiences, and by conducting research at the Laboratory of Biometry and Evolutionary Biology¹ (Laboratoire de Biométrie et de Biologie Evolutive). This involves establishing projects that combine eco-epidemiological and socio-economic issues in order to develop animal health care strategies and decision support tools for public and industrial authorities.

The SPV Chair relies on a well-developed academic and industrial experience in infectiology and vaccinology, as well as on structuring the regional ecosystem based on the “One Health” concept, with surveillance and research networks for animal health and for learning activities, which are based on VetAgro Sup’s ENSV-FVI² for establishing an international Master’s degree in veterinary public health.

The aim of the SPV Chair is to strengthen Lyon’s position as a major international player in veterinary public health research and, in particular, in the training of decision-makers.
